News Patch 1.19
Xbox Marks the Spot
- Microsoft purchases Activision Blizzard for $69 Billion
- This marks Microsoft’s second large purchase in under a year as they acquired Zenimax Media for $7.5 Billion in March of last year
- This deal is the company’s largest all cash deal on record, largest purchase in gaming history and will make them the third largest gaming company in the world
- To elaborate on “largest all-cash acquisition on record:” This will top non-gaming buy-outs such as Bayer’s $63.9B offer for Monsanto in 2016 and the $60.4B that InBev paid for Anheuser-Busch in 2008.
- All this pending antitrust and regulatory hearings, of course.
- Thoughts?
Gut Punched
- What does this mean for AB employees?
- What about Blizzard’s lawsuits for discrimination and abuse (which we wont go in to here)?
- What does this mean for gaming communities?
- One step closer to the metaverse
